What is EMMETT Therapy?

Emmett therapy uses light touch neuromuscular release to reset muscle memory to improve balance, softness and suppleness in horses. The technique involves the application of light pressure on specific points to affect immediate release in surrounding muscle tissue.

What are the benefits of EMMETT Therapy and Equine Massage?

Benefits include; Straightening of tracking, relieving lower back distress, increase overstep, improve unbalanced gait/stance, improve collection, improve vertical and lateral flexion of the head and neck, reduce inhibited movement/muscle restrictions, improve power delivery through hindquarters, increase endurance, relieve lead/harness strain, increase straightness, improve lateral flexion through the rib cage, improve transitions and lead changes and improve quality of life. Improvements or changes can be noticed immediately or up to 48 hours later depending on each individual horse.

MEL Equine keeps a client and therapy record to keep track of treatments completed, recommendations made and monitor your horse’s progress after each session.

Can a horse of any age have a treatment from MEL Equine?

A horse of any age will benefit from a treatment by MEL Equine. Young horses are rapidly growing, and may benefit from a treatment to relieve any muscle restrictions during their growth phase of life while their muscles and body are developing. Conversely, aged horses may benefit in keeping them feel relaxed and more comfortable during their retirement.
